Facebook Privacy Options: How to use Facebook’s global privacy settings.. Facebook gives you two “global” options for managing the privacy of your posts by default. The first option we cover in this video allows you to set the default privacy for posts or status updates that you make going forward on Facebook. The second setting that we look at allows you to retroactively set to private (viewable to friends-only) all of your past Facebook updates, regardless of your original Facebook privacy setting for each post.
